The Point is a landmark office development located in the heart of Birchwood Park, Warrington – one of the North West’s most dynamic business hubs. Designed to offer high-quality, flexible office space, the building serves as a base for innovative companies seeking modern and energy-efficient work environments.
The Requirements
The project brief required the installation of premium solar shading solutions that would enhance occupant comfort while supporting the building’s energy efficiency goals. The client requested blinds that:
• Reduce glare and solar gain on south-facing elevations
• Maintain outward visibility for employees
• Comply with fire safety regulations
• Blend discreetly with the interior fit-out design
Additionally, acoustic soft furnishings were required to support noise control in shared workspaces and meeting areas.
The Challenge
As a modern smart office building, The Point demanded an equally intelligent blinds solution. The window shading had to:
• Be visually minimalistic while highly functional
• Work within tight timelines during the interior fit-out
• Meet technical fire retardant standards (BS5867)
• Integrate seamlessly with ceiling design and partitions
Delivering both solar shading and acoustic treatment within a short program, while ensuring quality and durability, was a key logistical and technical challenge.
Our Solutions
Iris Blinds LTD delivered and installed:
• 45 manual roller blinds using ROE 3% open factor, fire-retardant fabric – ideal for office spaces where controlled light and outside visibility are essential.
• 3 acoustic draperies (ultrasound curtains) mounted on Silent Gliss Curved Tracks, providing both privacy and noise absorption in multi-use rooms and breakout areas.
All components were custom-sized and installed to millimetre accuracy, ensuring a clean and integrated finish within the new interior architecture.
The Outcome
The result is a smart and comfortable office space that meets both aesthetic and technical expectations. Employees benefit from natural light without glare, while maintaining a professional look throughout the offices. The acoustic curtains offer flexible partitioning and echo control.
The project was completed on time, with positive feedback from both the main contractor and the end client.
