Project Overview
Greyfriars Catholic School required a full upgrade of the auditorium drapery system to improve stage functionality, light control, and overall aesthetic impact. The existing curtains were outdated and no longer offered adequate blackout performance for assemblies, performances, and school events.
Iris Blinds LTD provided a complete solution, delivering measurement, manufacturing, supply, and installation services for new stage curtains and matching window draperies, designed to meet both functional and fire safety requirements.
•Site survey and precise measurements for stage and windows.
•Fabric selection guidance based on usage, performance, and durability needs.
•Production and installation of:
•Stage Curtains – Velvet Sensation Blackout, Fire Retardant.
•Window Draperies – Venus Dimout Fabric, fitted with blackout lining on the back for enhanced light control and fabric protection.
•Full installation on existing track systems (or specify if you want me to add “new rail system”).
•Final tensioning, pleating, and performance testing.
•Handover and client demonstration.

B. Window Draperies
Fabric: Venus Dimout
Construction: Dimout textile with blackout lining added to the back
Purpose of the lining:
•Improved light-blocking performance
•Protection of the main decorative fabric from sunlight
•Increased durability and reduced fading
•Better thermal and acoustic behaviour
The new curtains were fully manufactured to custom sizes and installed by the Iris Blinds team. The installation included:
•Secure fixing and testing of all brackets and tracks
•Precise pleating and equal fabric distribution
•Adjustment of curtain drop, alignment, and stack positioning
•Ensuring complete blackout performance on both stage and windows
•On-site quality inspection and full handover to the school
The final result delivered both functional performance and an aesthetic upgrade suitable for assemblies, school productions, and multimedia presentations.
